S145 Stainless Steel

The S145 steel, also known as FV520B, is martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel meeting the specifications of BS S145 and W.Nr 1.4594. The material was developed mainly for severe rotating equipment applications, providing good strength along with excellent fatigue and corrosion resistances.

Hardened steel exhibits precipitation hardening with strength values typically ranging from 1000-1200 MPa. Fatigue resistance is one of the features of this steel, thus it can be used for rotating parts like compressor blades, impellers and fan blades which work under millions of stress cycles.

Good corrosion resistance is ensured in wide range of environments including stress corrosion cracking. This property is especially necessary for components working in highly loaded and aggressive conditions typical for the oil and gas and marine industry. Combination of the above properties make this steel better than conventional martensitic stainless steels.

S145 is available in bar, sheet and plate. The product is available from stocks of Dynamic Metals for prototypes and production without minimum order quantity on stocks.
